A Theater Troupe of Children with Differing Abilities

Mission Statement
To provide an opportunity to children with differing abilities, ages 5-22, in San Jose, CA to participate in annual professional theater productions.

Organization Objective
To develop a documented model that can be replicated by different organizations who would want to begin theater troupes for children with disabilities in their own communities.

Honorary Chairperson
Chris Burke, national television actor who played Corky Thatcher in the hit ABC TV series Life Goes On, has agreed to be the Angels on Stage Honorary Chairperson.

Benefits

• Children with differing abilities are given the opportunity to become involved in channeling their strengths in a positive and creative outlet.
• Local middle and high school and college students will receive a rich opportunity to volunteer and become a 1:1 buddy to an “Angel” performer
• The community will have an opportunity to experience a sensational and professional cultural event.
• The community will have an opportunity to learn more about children with disabilities and the strengths and skills they possess.

Operational Context
A troupe exists already entitled “The Jesters of the Univ. of St. Francis” in Ft. Wayne, IN. This organization has been putting on productions since 1979. My sister Angel, was a performer for 5 years, and I was a college volunteer in 1990.

Theatre Location
The Historic Hoover Theatre in the San Jose Rose Garden neighborhood has been booked for the fall of 2008. Practices begin Saturday, October 4th, with the 3 performance productions scheduled for February 2009.
