We serve Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, San Benito and Monterey Counties. Area Board VII provides advocacy assistance with education planning and special education needs review. We can assist with regional center eligibility and service issues and issues regarding other generic resources. We also provide the Life Quality Assessment Project, Clients’ Rights Advocate at Agnews Developmental Center and Volunteer Advocacy Services at Agnews Developmental Center.

• Advocacy for persons with developmental disabilities.
• Increase awareness of developmental disabilities.
• Encourage and assist in the establishment of citizen advocacy organizations.
• Review policies and procedures of publicly funded agencies that provide services needed by persons who have developmental disabilities to determine if they are meeting statutory obligations.
• Assist in a state plan for developmental disabilities services.
• Cooperate with coordinating and planning bodies and county governmental groups in matters related to the well-being of persons with developmental disabilities.
• Encourage the development of needed services of good quality and coordinate services to prevent duplication, fragmentation of services and unnecessary expenditures.
