Art for Well Beings (AFWB) offers art classes especially welcoming people with special needs. AFWB is open to the public with classes tailored toward people with developmental disabilities, at-risk youth and people recovering from illness or injury. AFWB art classes are designed to give voice, through creative expression. Any and all beings interested in experiencing first-hand
the transformative power of art are welcome.

Judy Gittelsohn, a Palo Alto artist, opened Art For Well Beings (AFWB) in Spring of 2007. Judy has been creating art with people in our community for over eight years using methods that emphasize play and highlight the individual’s art within group projects. She developed PAINT BY PUZZLE © which frees people to contribute expressive work to a larger collective group painting. As well Judy is the Golden Acrylic Working Artist for the peninsula. People attending workshops at AFWB have access to an extensive range of Golden paints and gels.

Classes:

Growing Art

Classes are tailored toward the individual’s style and their capabilities. This class uses exercises where play and fun are emphasized. Students will create individual and group paintings using paint and textured gels.
Monday and Wednesday 3:00 – 4:00 8 week series $120 / Drop in $25

Honest Earnest Artist

Participants create paintings studying established artists, theories and concepts. This class plays with Golden paints, gels and other products.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 4:30 - 5:30 8 week series $120 / Drop in $25

Anything Goes Art

You play with collage, charcoal, crayons or paint and build small masterpieces.
Tuesday 9:30 –11:00 6 week series $120 / Drop in $35

Explore Experience Enjoy and Engage

An open ended Golden Paints workshop where we select gels, mediums and paints to achieve our desired results. Participants are encouraged to bring in work to further or evolve in the group. Instruction given upon request.
Tuesday 11 - 1pm 8 week series $240 / Drop in $40 per workshop
