Book Reading with Joan Ryan, author of The Water Giver
The Reading Clinic is co-hosting a wonderful event with The Northern California Branch of the IDA and PEN.
The Water Giver: The Story of a Mother, a Son and Their Second Chance
Like many parents, Bay Area sportswriter Joan Ryan struggled with the challenges of parenting a child with learning disabilities. Her son's odd and often defiant behavior left her puzzled and exasperated. But when, at age 16, he sustained a traumatic brain injury, she found a new perspective on what her son most needed from his mother. Joan recounts his recovery and her own emotional journey in a new book, The Water Giver. Don't miss this chance to hear Joan share her perspective on parenting a child who struggles with learning and behavioral issues.
