Mains’l has been supporting children and adults with disabilities since 1989. We support people who need assistance to live successfully in their homes and communities, by offering innovative supports that promote a meaningful life, responding to their hopes and dreams.

Mains’l provides a variety of services to the special needs communities of CA, AK and MN. These include: Financial Management, College Support, Day Programs, Behavior Management, Transportation, etc.

We’ve been a Financial Management Services provider throughout California since 2011 and can partner with you for respite, day care, transportation and nursing services. We are also excited to provide FMS state-wide for the new Self-Determination program

Person Centered Planning

A Person Centered Plan is the guide for planning for the future they see for themselves. Working with individuals and those closest to them, our planners support people in “drawing” a picture of the life they want to live — and then work together to figure out how to best get there.

Participant Directed Services/Financial Management Services for People

Participant Directed Services allow people flexibility and control over the resources that support their lives. Participants purchase the goods and services they need, and hire, schedule and train caregivers of their own choosing.

Financial Management Services (FMS) are a required part of Participant Directed Services. Names that are also used for Financial Management Services (FMS) are Fiscal Support Entity (FSE), Financial Management Entity (FME), and Fiscal Intermediary (FI.) The FMS agency supports the participant of Participant Directed Services. An FMS agency supports the participant by handling some of their responsibilities as employer. The amount of support the FMS agency provides varies depending on the state, program, and the level of support chosen.

In most programs the FMS agency:

  • Establishes participants as household employers
  • Processes payroll and taxes for caregivers
  • Withholds, files, and reports all payroll taxes
  • Make payments for approved goods and services
  • Provides reports to participants and agencies to track spending within their approved budget.

The College Essentials+ Program, available in California and Minnesota, is designed to provide support and assistance to young adults, who are interested in pursuing a college degree or academic certificate, to advance their education and career goals. Our experience tells us there are learners who, with additional intensive academic, social, vocational, and independent living supports post high school, can launch themselves out of, or at least minimize, their dependence on the social service system.

The program provides:

  • Individualized Plan to Success
  • Targets Educational Goals and provides weekly follow-along support on academic goals.
  • Enhances Social Skills
  • Increases Independent Living
  • Explores Vocational Themes

In addition, the program teaches:

  • Social Skills:  including developing and maintaining friendships and pursuing leisure interests and hobbies;
  • Independent Living Skills:  including maintenance of a clean, well kept home, nutrition basics, and money management;
  • Vocational Skills:  including resume development, networking skills, and application and interview training, as well as seeking volunteer opportunities.
