Crash Course in Independent Living – Parents Information Night

Tue, May 13, 2008: 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm

Crash Course in Independent Living – Parents Information Night Sponsored by EvoLibri Consulting

This summer, EvoLibri will begin a new transition training program for high-functioning neurodiverse (ASD, NLD, LD, AD/HD) teens and young adults, starting with our Crash Course in Independent Living – a two week boot camp for youth ages 16 through 25.

During these ten days together, youth will learn everything from cooking, shopping, and cleaning skills, how to negotiate a rental or lease agreement (and what the difference is), emergency preparedness and response, basic financial skills, and creating and maintaining a social life. Perhaps most importantly, youth will learn these skills with peers, working together on skills and new friendships.

Intended for parents of mainstreamed or partly mainstreamed teens, the session will fully explain the program, and answer any questions parents may have about participation. The first session of boot camp is scheduled for the last two weeks in June, but we hope to add at least one more session during the summer, based on need. YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT by contacting EvoLibri as noted below.

All sessions include handouts and light refreshments.
