Dr. Stephen Hinshaw, Leading ADHD Researcher and Author of The Triple Bind

Wed, Jun 3, 2009: 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm

Our girls are at risk, says psychologist and prominent ADHD authority Stephen Hinshaw. Societal expectations, cultural trends, and conflicting messages are creating what he calls "the Triple Bind" for our girls and young women. That bind is putting more and more girls at risk for aggression, eating disorders, depression, and even suicide.

He recently conducted research following girls with ADHD into young adulthood, and he will include in his talk results from that research and the particular way the Triple Bind might affects girls with ADHD. Hinshaw is chair of the Psychology Department at the University of California, Berkeley.
