Dr. Peter Gerhardt - Autism Issues and Effective Strategies for Adolescents and Adults

In this session for both professionals and parents, Dr. Gerhardt will be presenting information and strategies for success for adolescents and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders in educational, employment and community-based settings.

Topics include building independent living skills, sexuality issues, safety skills, community-based instruction, and job training.

Peter Gerhardt, Ed.D., is a Consultant whose private practice is based in Baltimore, MD. He is the author or co-author of articles and book chapters on the needs of adults with autism spectrum disorder, the school-to-work-transition process and analysis, assessment of social competence and intervention of problematic behavior.

Dr. Gerhardt is President and Chair of the Scientific Council for the Organization for Autism Research, a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding applied research and disseminating the relevant findings in support of learners with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families.

Dr. Gerhardt has over 25 years experience utilizing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis in support of adolescents and adults with an ASD in educational, employment, and community based settings. He is co-founder of the Douglas Group, a social and support service for adults with Asperger’s Disorder.
