Practical Strategies to Improve Communication, Social Interaction and Behavior in the Young Child with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Tue, Jun 22, 2010: 9:30 am to 11:30 am

Despite the availability of many effective autism treatment approaches, parents, caregivers, and families often struggle to help their children with autism communicate, interact and participate in everyday life. This presentation, part of the Special Topics in Special Needs series for FIRST 5 partners, will use videotaped examples to help caregivers and families utilize strategies from leading behavioral and developmental approaches to improve their children's communication, social interaction and behavior.

The goal of this talk is to provide FIRST 5 partners with information, resources and strategies to ensure they feel more comfortable and confident in supporting the families of children with ASD challenges. Questions and concerns will be welcomed and will make this session interactive and better focused on the immediate needs of the participants.

Parents/caregivers and professionals outside the FIRST 5 network are welcome to attend as well.
