In-Home Supportive Services: Protective Supervision for Adult Children with Developmental Disabilities
Wed, Oct 20, 2010: 6:45 pm to 9:00 pm
PACDD, Parents and Caregivers of Adult Children with Developmental Disabilities, is designed to meet the needs of the parents and caregivers, including adult siblings, of adults with developmental disabilities. Join other parents and family caregivers with adult children with a variety of developmental disabilities, including autism.
This presentation will assist you in the preparatory process of the assessment for Protective Supervision through In Home Support Services for adults (18 and over) that qualify for Medi-Cal. Your child may be living at home with you or in their own home to be eligible for this service. You might even be paid as the provider of their services.
If your child already receives IHSS—is she/he receiving all the hours to which she/he is entitled? Services provided are based on needs, and may include:
- domestic services (vacuuming, dusting, etc.)
- related services (meal preparation, shopping, running errands, etc.)
- non-medical personal care services (bowel and bladder care, grooming, bathing, etc.)
- transportation
- yard hazard abatement
- protective supervision

Families that have children that are not regional center clients find some of our meetings helpful and are welcome to join at any event.
The speaker series typically meets on the third Wednesday of each month, though we do host special events on the weekends and on days that work for a particular highly sought after speaker. They are held at Parents Helping Parents, except in July and August when we take the summer off.
Our families come together at a potluck quarterly, usually in March, June, September and December. Bring a pizza, or whatever you like, and your own beverages. We need to know how many people to expect, so please RSVP.
Please RSVP for all Events by adding yourself below or by calling PHP to reserve a place.
