Transition

Pathfinder Mentoring is a one-on-one, mentor-mentee learning experience for all young people on the autism spectrum (AS) and neuro-typical youths alike, who are ready to learn, and to successfully express social skills, life skills, and potent health and well-being training in their evolving lives.

Developing early successful intervention strategies to prepare for the challenging transitions upon the life path of the growing AS youth population is crucial.

The growing population of individuals on the spectrum over the age of 21 increases every year in the United States. With dwindling federal and state support programs and funding, these individuals without proper support and training will end up living at home for most of their adult lives.

Having mentored many youths on the autism spectrum since 1990, the consensus of the questions they have shared with me is, as they grew older, “How can I fit in, live independently, and be successful in society when I am challenged with so may issues that overwhelm me?”

Pathfinder Mentoring addresses these issues and challenges that all youths, AS or not—ages 12 through 24 years old—face in the over-stimulated 21st century society. Starting from the ground up, literally, Pathfinder Mentoring introduces, trains, and reinforces vital basic life skills and social skills through a mind/ body training model called “BodyKi.” It is the first step towards empowering, enriching, and enhancing their lives.
