Please Note: Overdue fees of $0.50 per item per day will start on July 1, 2013.

Our two onsite libraries, PHP and RiSE (Resources in Special Education), provide a resource of over 4,800 books/videos/DVDs to parents and professionals on the special needs of children and their families. In addition, we also offer Internet and Wi-Fi services.

Our librarian, Judy Bower, judy@php.com is here to assist you between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday through Friday.

PHP Library

The PHP Library is a unique resource for disability-specific conditions. In many instances, this is the first place where parents come when their child has received a diagnosis. We offer 3,700 up-to-date materials not usually found in other public libraries or in local bookstores.

RiSE Library 

The RiSE (Resources in Special Education) Library is funded through the Special Education Division of the California Department of Education. The RiSE collection is geared toward an educational and professional point of view with a collection of over 1200 items. 

The books, videos, and DVDs can be requested by phone or email and received via mail. The librarian can make suggestions on certain topics and do searches to find current information for you.

Some topics include:

  • Educational law and legislation
  • Referral and assessment
  • IEP development
  • Section 504
  • Cultural diversity
  • Disability awareness
  • Inclusion
  • Collaboration with teachers and parents
  • Curriculum modifications
  • Transition after high school 

Check Out Policy: You need to come in person to borrow books and videos from the PHP library.

Materials from the RiSE library will be mailed out; items must be returned by first class mail or UPS and the borrower is responsible for return postage fees.

Each check out is for three weeks and requires a credit card number that will be placed on file as a nonactive deposit. If materials are lost or damaged, the borrower is responsible for replacement or repair costs.
