Autism Spectrum Disorder

For parents, professionals, and caregivers of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) or developmental delays in communication, behavior, and social skills.

Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month, from 7 - 9pm at Parents Helping Parents, Sobrato Center for Nonprofits-San Jose, 1400 Parkmoor Avenue, CA 95126.

Parents will meet informally to talk about a variety of issues & concerns, share information and provide support.  New families and caregivers are always welcome.  Those who wish to share or simply listen are invited to attend.

The Autism Speaks 100 Day Kit and the Asperger Syndrome and High Functioning Autism Tool Kit were created specifically for newly diagnosed families to make the best possible use of the 100 days following their child's diagnosis of autism or AS/HFA.

ADEPT (Autism Distance Education Parent Training) Interactive Learning
Module 1: Strategies for Teaching Functional Skills

An original MIND Institute/CEDD 10-lesson interactive, self-paced, online learning module providing parents with tools and training to more effectively teach their child with autism and other related neurodevelopmental disorders functional skills using applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques. IAN, the Interactive Autism Network, was established in January 2006 at Kennedy Krieger Institute and is funded by a grant from Autism Speaks. IAN's goal is to facilitate research that will lead to advancements in understanding and treating autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). FREE training modules in skills and information used for children/adolescents having Autism. The AIM project was begun in 2007 as a way to provide parents and professionals with the up-to-date information they need to help individuals with ASD achieve their highest potential. This series of online learning modules includes information on assessment and identification of ASDs, recognizing and understanding behaviors and characteristics, transition to adulthood, employment, and numerous evidence-based practices and interventions.
