Educational Therapist providing one-on-one services to individuals (generally school-age children) with learning differences such as:

• Dyslexia
• AD/HD
• High-Functioning Autism
• Asperger's 
• NLD

Approach includes:

• Building on their strengths to improve learning modalities and self-esteem.
• Understanding their specific learning style and helping them become self-advocates. 
• When considered appropriate, referring to other professionals that may improve the learning situation, i.e. other educational therapists, audiologists, and counselors

Primary focus is working with students on:

• Phonological Awareness – learning patterns for spelling and syllabication through simultaneous use of visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile modalities
• Reading Fluency – increasing reading accuracy and speed leading toward better comprehension
• Reading Comprehension – understanding the necessary components for visualizing content, building vocabulary, and gaining inferential skills
• Written Expression – grasping the basic skills for sentence, paragraph, and essay construction
• Handwriting – using multi-sensory techniques for constructing letter formations
• Organization and Study Skills – developing effective strategies for efficiently preparing and completing assignments in a timely fashion as well as keeping track of coursework
