For adults with cognitive disabilities, Assistive Technology (AT) can be especially empowering.
Assistive Technology can create opportunities for greater independence and access. Join us for a webinar on how people with disabilities and their providers can identify, obtain, and use assistive technology to support a wide range of needs. Start building your IL-Tech (Independent Living Tech) toolkit for greater independence!
Participants will learn about:
Tools for organization and time management, including smart home tools
Tools to foster continued lifelong learning
Tools to help with life skills, such as cooking, money management, navigating your community, and social communication
All participants will receive a handout of the tools mentioned in the webinar. Information on funding sources and trial programs in California will be shared as well. Strategies for implementing some of the tools will also be discussed.
Please join Debbie Drennan, MSW, AT Specialist, Assistive Technology Consultant (AT). She believes that AT is a key component to the successful inclusion of all individuals. She has been an AT Specialist for over 20 years, and recently completed training to become an Inclusion Facilitator with Beginning Together. She became passionate about assistive technology and inclusion because of her children, one of whom has Cerebral Palsy, and another who has ADHD. Both are now successful, independent adults, in part, due to Assistive Technology.
This is a Connections California event. Connections California, a project of Parents Helping Parents – Silicon Valley, is made possible thanks to generous support from Santa Clara Family Health Plan.
