As a parent of a twice exceptional child (your child is both gifted and on the autism spectrum), you see their incredible talents but worry about their social difficulties, executive functioning or daily living skills. They may be socially awkward and struggle to make friends, so they might isolate themself or avoid social situations. Your child may feel different from their peers and lonely, causing anxiety and depression. As a parent, you want the best for your child and may worry about their future.
You’ve maybe faced the judgement of other parents and family members who don’t understand what it is like raising your neurodiverse child, and you would love support from parents who get you. You might be feeling isolated, stuck, or wanting tools to help parent your unique child.
Open Doors Therapy offers a parent support group for parents just like you. The Parent Support Group enables you to connect with other parents who know what it’s like raising a neurodiverse and gifted teen. From your group leader, who is an autism therapist, you will learn parenting tools to help you support the unique needs of your child.
Open Doors Therapy is offering the groups online via ZOOM to California residents.
