September 28, 2022 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
Following up on last spring’s Connections California event with collaborative partner CA State Council on Developmental Disabilities, Darcy McCann, post-baccalaureate program candidate and self-advocate, and David Grady, MA MFT, return to discuss encounters with law enforcement, emergency response teams, and other first responders. Law enforcement usually gets involved in response to crisis situations.
Darcy and David will discuss:
Events that could lead up to a crisis
interaction and techniques to deescalate a situation
what can police officers and emergency personnel do and not do
5150 holds and emergency room admissions
They will also discuss going from crisis to stabilization and the work needed to get both developmental and behavioral health supports and services.
Darcy and David enjoy a conversational style. Please join us to hear what they have to say and to share viewpoints with others who attend.
This is a Connections California event. Connections California, a project of Parents Helping Parents – Silicon Valley, is made possible thanks to generous support from Santa Clara Family Health Plan.
