April 10, 2021 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM

This workshop targets the bumpy road that all parents experience during their child’s early communication acquisition. By the end of the four session workshop, parents will:
– Understand the importance of play in communication
– Understand types of play appropriate for children 12 months to 5 years
– Understand the stages of play and customize your play kit for your child’s level of play
– Understand how to play with your child with communication needs
– Understand how to build on language and play off of current skills/social stage

Session 2: “Am I playing the right way with my child?”
Confusion begins at this stage where parents have used the starting points to actively play and encourage their child’s language but are not sure if their play is “right”. This sessions works on developing the foundations and functions of play: imitation, parallel play, turn-taking, and beyond. Various activities and ideas will be given along with homework!
