This 16-hour, four-session course is an introduction to Person Centered Thinking, is the bedrock of person centered approaches, and is consistent with HCBS expectations.

Person Centered Thinking is the first and fundamental training providing participants with the basic knowledge on how to facilitate the use of the skills and tools to support others. You will develop your own description using these skills and tools. Changing your thinking is the first step toward person centered approaches and supports.
This training offers 16-hours of CEU-approved learning and practicing how to use a variety of skills to discover information to support someone to have a better life.
The skills offer specific methods to discover information that identifies what is important to a person and what is important for a person. The discovery process leads to finding the balance between important to and for, serving as the basis to create a description of a person that leads to action planning. The tools of discovery were developed by Michael Smull and the Learning Community to support people to get better lives…not just better plans.
Who is this training for? Anyone regardless of their role in supporting people who use services due to the presence of a disability, long-term health impact, and more. This course is ideal for professionals and direct support staff alike, as our partner agency is approved for continuing education.
