Athena Academy
A PLACE WHERE THE DYSLEXIC CHILD IS NURTURED
Athena Academy serves 1st through 8th grade dyslexic and twice exceptional students. We are located in Palo Alto, CA. We utilize a project based curriculum to teach our bright and creative students. Athena Academy is fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges through June 2024.
Our vision:
To offer new teaching techniques that have shown remarkable success in enabling dyslexic students to learn as fast and as well as typical students.
To develop the unique gifts dyslexic students possess. We aim to produce well-rounded students, supporting their weaknesses and developing their gifts. These children will excel in so many ways, possessing gifts and perspectives not typical in other students.
Summer at Athena Academy is proud to offer a week long skills program for dyslexic students entering grades 1 – 8. This program is specifically designed, utilizing Athena Academy’s unique teaching approach, to help dyslexic students build foundational skills for learning.
Our highly trained, dedicated teachers will work with the students on understanding the way their brains work and through multi-sensory, skills based instruction teach them to use their visual-spatial strengths when learning. The incorporation of our project based curriculum will engage the students with meaningful and fun content that will allow them to apply the skills being taught.
This program is a great way to minimize summer learning loss and boost student learning.
Athena Academy serves students with dyslexia and visual-spatial strengths and twice exceptional students in grades 1 – 8. Many students with dyslexia also have diagnoses of ADHD, APD, and expressive or receptive language challenges. We are able to serve students with these concurrent diagnoses, but are unable to fully meet the needs of students with more severe or complicated profiles. All students in our program have dyslexia. We are able to help some families with Educational/Psychological testing for your child if you haven’t completed this yet.
