Calvary Church Los Gatos – Shining Stars

Families and individuals impacted by disabilities and special needs have a place at Calvary Church. The ministry of Shining Stars is designed as a loving community that models God’s love to everyone. We strive to make Calvary a place that is welcome to all people.

Shining Stars is a program designed especially for families of children and young adults with special needs. It is our privilege and joy to share God’s love as we serve our families.  Shining Stars currently offers Saturday afternoon family respite events, every other month.

The Shining Stars classroom enables families to worship while their special needs children are cared for in a safe and loving environment.  This class is designed for children who would benefit from a smaller classroom size, more individual attention and a curriculum delivered at a slower pace.  Children experience and learn about God’s love through Bible stories, songs, activities and art projects.  This class meets every Sunday at 10:45am in D113

Some children with special needs can thrive in the regular Calvary Kids ministry activities if they have a “Buddy” to come alongside them and give them a little extra assistance. We will work with your family to establish a buddy relationship that is just the right fit for your child.

The respite program is designed especially for families of children with special needs and their siblings.  Every other month, we provide families the opportunity to leave their children in a safe, fun and loving environment with our amazing Star Tenders.  A registered nurse is present at all times. There is no charge for Shining Stars Respite. These respites provide these parents and caregivers a much needed break.
