Applied Behavior Analysis:

Through decades of research, the field of behavior analysis has developed many techniques for increasing useful behaviors and reducing those that may cause harm or interfere with learning. Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is the use of these techniques and principles to bring about meaningful and positive change in behavior.

A wide variety of ABA techniques have been developed for building useful skills in learners with autism – from toddlers through adulthood. These techniques can be used in structured situations such as a classroom lesson as well as in “everyday” situations such as family dinnertime or the neighborhood playground. Some ABA therapy sessions involve one-on-one interaction between the behavior analyst and the participant. Group instruction can likewise prove useful.

Social Skills Groups:

Social skills groups focus on teaching children a variety of social skills to help improve their ability to make and keep friends, develop more self-confidence, and behave more appropriately. Role-plays and group interaction will give the children opportunities to practice these skills during the group session. The therapist will utilize behavioral reinforcement to promote rule compliance, participation, and use of appropriate social skills, while also encouraging and reinforcing the children to practice these skills outside of the session.

Objective information regarding the children’s behavior will be gathered before and after the group to measure the children’s progress and parents will be provided with written feedback at the conclusion of each group.

Occupational therapy

Our occupational therapists work to holistically address difficulties experienced by clients in aspects of their daily lives with the aim to set them up for continued success in their lives.

Speech therapy

Our speech therapy services start with an evaluation and result in an individualized treatment approach to target the improvement of communication, pronunciation, and social skills.

Adult Transition Program

The importance of the young adult transition is becoming more recognized within the community of providers who work with young people on the Autism Spectrum. We know young people with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) are a bellwether. They struggle with the transition from high school precisely because it is a difficult process. Having worked with young adults both neuro-typical and neuro-atypical, I have observed similar challenges for both.

Counseling

Individual, group, and family counseling helps support the discovery of meaningful coping skills to manage emotional stress in a supportive environment.

Collaborative Consultations:

At Center for Social Dynamics, special educators working as collaborative consultants bring their expertise to the service delivery model which works best with each student or environment.

Parent and Staff Training:

We offer parent and professional training workshops/seminars that can be tailored to professionals/clinicians, teachers, parents and family members as individual groups or combined.
