City of South San Francisco Recreation Dept.

The Recreation Division consists of seven program areas, including Aquatics, Classes, Cultural Arts, Childcare, Senior Services, Sports and Rentals. Other programs managed by the Recreation Division include departmental Special Events and Administration.

Recreation staff are also tasked with operating recreation centers, picnic sites and rental facilities, preschools and select SSFUSD after school sites that serve residents of all age groups.

Our Childcare Program has and is continuing to grow so it is now split into two new program areas.  The former Childcare Program included preschool, school age before and after school program and seasonal camps.  As we look to opportunities to expand childcare programs and are in the process of developing a childcare master plan, it was determined that to better serve our community we needed to divide our Childcare Program into two areas of focus, early learning and school age.  Laura Armanino is moving over as Recreation & Community Services Supervisor to oversee the Preschool and Early Learning program and Kimberly Morrison will be the Acting Recreation & Community Services Supervisor of the school age Youth Enrichment Services (YES) program.  We are very excited about these two new program areas and the continued growth of childcare in South San Francisco.

The City of South San Francisco’s three preschools operate Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 6:00 pm.
