CIP Berkeley is a year-round program providing individualized social, academic, career, and life skills instruction to young adults 18-26 with Asperger’s  ADD and other learning differences. CIP was founded in 1984 to help young people with learning differences make successful transitions from adolescence to young adulthood

Located in the heart of downtown Berkeley and in the center of the Bay Area, CIP is located steps from Berkeley City College and a short walk to the UC Berkeley campus. This eco-conscious city is well known for its diversity, inclusivity, academics, advocacy, and the arts. Students enjoy visiting local parks, hiking trails, beach trips, amusement parks, and attending professional sporting events. The center is centrally located near San Francisco and many popular Bay Area destinations. An abundance of academic and cultural opportunities are easily accessible via public transportation, or on foot as students experience what this dynamic urban area has to offer. For information about their summer and year-round programs, visit CIP or call 877-566-9247.

CIP IS ONE OF THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAMS IN THE WORLD FOR YOUNG ADULTS ON THE AUTISM SPECTRUM AND WITH LEARNING DIFFERENCES:

  • Full year and summer programs located in Massachusetts, Florida, Indiana, Northern and Southern California
  • Comprehensive curriculum developed specifically for students with Asperger’s, High-functioning Autism, ADHD, and other Learning Differences
  • The CIP program focuses on real-life skills in areas of social thinking, executive functioning, sensory processing and wellness
  • Each student’s vision and goals are explored and help determine their services and supports
  • Residential apartment living support prepares students for independent living
  • A team of staff are dedicated to each students personal success

Developing social skills and competencies is an important piece of independent life at CIP. For individuals on the autism spectrum or with a learning difference, social and emotional growth precedes all other growth.

The CIP program brings together many young men and women with shared interests and goals. Students make lasting friendships and social connections during their time at CIP.

Graduate Living Community (GLC)

A unique community living model providing an integrated transition to the next level of independence after CIP

Post-CIP Living Communities For Higher-Level Skill Development

CIP’s Graduate Living Communities (GLC) are unique post-CIP living communities focused on higher-level skill development in areas of college academics, employment, social/interpersonal development, and executive functioning skills.

This unique community model provides an integrated transition to the next level of independence after CIP. GLC participants benefit from retaining social and community connections, weekly check-ins, assistance with socialization and recreation, and in-home supports as they take the next big leap toward independence.

The GLC is available on an invitation-only basis for students who have achieved certain benchmarks while enrolled in CIP’s Full-Year, on-campus program.
