Dennis The Menace Playground ( in El Estero Park)
This playground opened in 1956. Construction started in 1952 and was the brainchild of Archer Garner and Hank Ketcham, the creator of the famous Dennis The Menace comic strip. While the playground is not 100% accessible, much of it is and it includes a quiet area in the form of a maze. The playground has been updated several times since it opened and new inclusive play pieces have been added. While much of the original playground still exists, there are a lot of opportunities for inclusive play. The playground has many benches for parents to supervise and is fenced all around. This playground was ahead of its time and is a definite favorite among local children.
