Edgewood supports youth and their families through life’s challenges with a full continuum of behavioral health services.

Our work focuses on issues such as mental healthfamily relationships and life skills, and our programs range from prevention and early intervention to community-based, day and residential treatment.

Edgewood strives to continuously improve outcomes through research, training, and consultation – both in our own programs and for other youth-serving organizations. We draw on our years of experience and the latest research to create innovative training opportunities for staff, caregivers, teachers, and child welfare professionals.

Edgewood is more than just a place. We offer a broad range of services to help children and families at home, in schools, and in the community. When abused, neglected, and troubled youth require more comprehensive care than their family or school can provide, our Intensive Services help children and teens to heal and reconnect with a safe, loving family whenever possible.

PROVIDING TRAINING TO DEEPEN EDGEWOOD’S IMPACT

The Edgewood Institute was relaunched in 2020 to provide professional training to a high-impact cross-section of practitioners that include Edgewood staff, our partnering agencies and organizations, community-based organizations, and the public at large. Building on over 170 years of service and expertise, the Edgewood Institute will provide training in topics such as Family Therapy, Telehealth, Reflective Supervision, and Post Pandemic Mental Health.

PREVENTION AND EARLY INTERVENTION
Our Prevention and Early Intervention programs work with families and within the community to help address mental health issues before they become problematic.

Edgewood Center’s Kinship Support Network is celebrating 30 years of providing a positive alternative to the foster care system. In 1993 Edgewood established the first Kinship program in the country to support non-custodial family members raising children – most often grandmothers. Over the past three decades, over 90% of these youth have been able to stay within a family setting up to the age of 18. Edgewood’s Kinship model has since been replicated throughout the U.S. and internationally.

Edgewood’s Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) program focuses on helping children with behavioral health problems while emphasizing their strengths. The escalation of behavioral or mental health issues can leave young people at risk for hospitalization, trauma, or the loss of their home placement. We teach youth the coping skills, self-esteem, and empathy they need to succeed and serve as a high-functioning member of their community.

We  provide support to caregivers in creating and implementing individual plans for their children. Children ages 3 to 21 can be referred for Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) by their therapist.
