We are a non profit residential treatment center and non public school serving special education students from throughout California. We provide 24/7 supervision on site counseling, individual, family and group therapy for students with Emotional Disturbance, autism and other serious educational and mental health challenges. We are one of the few programs within California serving this population for students with IEPs who exhibit behavioral issues that exceed the resources available in their home and/or public school campus.

Mountain Valley Academy (MVA) is a unique and enriching residential school experience for Special Education students to meet their challenges in a supportive and outdoor-oriented environment.Mountain Valley Academy is a Junior High and High School Program serving children with complex educational, emotional and behavioral challenges.

We have developed Mountain Valley Academy to serve ONLY students that have been referred to us by their parents and School Districts in collaboration with their IEP teams. Our experience over the past 30 years has shown us that Special Education students thrive when they are in an enriched academic environment free from outside influences and pressures.

At Mountain Valley Academy we help students gain the skills they need in order to return to their home and school communities. Our approach is based on building meaningful relationships through a trauma informed model, while encouraging healing and academic success.

Special Education Services
At Mountain Valley Academy, we meet young people where they are in their development and work with them to effect change. We support students with primary and secondary disabilities and our therapeutic approach is tailored to the individual needs of each young person.

We help students gain self-mastery skills in order to return to their home and school communities. Our approach is based on building meaningful relationships through a trauma informed model, while encouraging healing and academic success.

Treatment teams are responsible for overseeing every aspect of each student’s individualized education, mental health, and residential program. Every house has its own Treatment Team.
Treatment Teams are made up of:

Residential administrator or house supervisor
Therapist (LMFT, LCSW, or MFTI)
