ABOUT NEAT
We are an interdisciplinary group of independent providers in the Bay Area with a broad range of expertise in neuropsychological evaluations, educational assessments, psychological testing, and treatment issues. Because of our small practice, we can offer personal attention and specialized services to meet the unique needs of our clients.

Assessments are often requested for learning disorder evaluation, ADHD, developmental disorder, emotional problems, social concerns, language impairment, cognitive deficits, intellectual disability, brain injury, concussion, anxiety, depression, autism, asperger’s, behavior problems, school reentry following medical illness, mental health concerns, executive functioning, and other areas tailored to referral concerns
Our staff:
Dr. Christian Ambler is a neuropsychologist and licensed clinical psychologist at Stanford Children’s Hospital and at N.E.A.T. in Los Altos. He specializes in pediatric and adult neuropsychological assessments and research. His interests include neuropsychological sequelae of medical and neurodevelopmental disorders, brain injury, concussion, learning disorders, executive dysfunction, ADHD, and emotional disorders. He also has a special interest in autism spectrum disorders.
Dr. Cheryl Ambler is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in pediatric and adult neuropsychology. Her interests include developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, pediatric brain tumor, neuropsychological sequelae of medical disorders, and neurocognitive impairments. Dr. Ambler completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Children’s Health Council in Palo Alto and post-doctoral fellowship at McCauley Neuropsychiatric Institute at St. Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco.
Dr. Nancy Sullivan is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in pediatric and young adult neuropsychology. She has interests in multidisciplinary team assessments, learning disabilities, and developmental disabilities, as well as integrating speech/language, occupational therapy, and education assessment with neuropsychology. Dr. Nancy Sullivan has worked at the Peninsula Children’s Center, UC Davis Medical Center, and The Hospital for Sick Children (London). Upon graduation, she worked as a psychologist providing psychological evaluations and treatments to the neurology patients on inpatient and outpatient units. Dr. Sullivan was a staff neuropsychologist at Children’s Health Council in Palo Alto for over 15 years. She also maintained a small private practice before enlarging it at the formation of NEAT in 2006.
Janet Rulifson is an educational specialist whose area of interest is in developmental, educational, and neuropsychological impacts for children with significant learning disabilities. She was formerly department head for educational assessment at Children’s Health Council. Janet Rulifson is also an educational specialist in the HEAL Program at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford.
