Parca has been enriching the lives of people with developmental disabilities since 1952. Our programs are designed to create a feeling of extended family to help people live as independently as possible and enjoy all that life has to offer. Parca provides residential programs, support for those living independently, respite care and family support and advocacy services.
Parca is committed to providing support to our clients and their families at all stages of their lives. Children’s Services includes REACH, a unique inclusive child care program serving kids with and without developmental disabilities and Raji House, a weekend respite care program for children and teens with developmental disabilities. These programs use positive learning and recreational activities that emphasize the similarities between each person rather than the differences. All Parca children’s programs are licensed by the Department of Social Services.

FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES
Family Support Services offers a broad spectrum of options for parents, caregivers and siblings of people with developmental disabilities. It is a lifeline for San Mateo County families struggling with the challenges of raising a child or assisting an adult family member who has one or more developmental disabilities.

REACH (Recreational Experiences for All Children) is a unique, inclusive and integrated child care program for children with and without developmental disabilities. It offers recreational and educational opportunities in a safe and dependable environment where children learn to embrace diversity. At REACH, children enjoy the following activities:

The REACH program is located at John Muir Elementary School, 130 Cambridge Ln., San Bruno
A summer program is offered June through August with daily activities and field trips.REACH accommodates 31 children from four years nine months to 13 years old. A limited number of subsidized child care slots are available for families who meet California Department of Education income criteria. Parents and caregivers can also pay privately. The child-to-staff ratio is eight to one, and can be as low as three to one, depending on the child’s needs.REACH is licensed by the Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Division, #414003043. Raji House is a weekend out-of-home respite care program for children and teens with developmental disabilities. They share fun social experiences while their parents enjoy a break. It is the only program of its kind on the San Francisco Peninsula.
ALAMEDA HOUSE
Alameda House is an independent living residence for adults with developmental disabilities. Residents receive independent living skills training to learn:
- Meal planning, cooking and nutrition
- Transportation logistics
- Shopping Budgeting and money management
- Cleaning
- Safety and health care
Alameda House is a five-bedroom ranch-style house. It is located at 124 Alameda de las Pulgas in Redwood City. Alameda House is owned and operated by PARCA. It currently accommodates five adults ages 21-59.
CEDAR HOUSE
Cedar Street House is an assisted living residence for adults with developmental disabilities. Residents receive independent living skills training in order to learn how to:
- perform personal care tasks
- perform household duties in a group living setting
- use public transportation
- find recreational opportunities
- find employment or an appropriate day program
Cedar Street House is a four-bedroom house located at 721 Cedar Street in San Carlos. It is owned and operated by PARCA with the assistance of the California Rental Housing Construction program. It accommodates eight adult men and women ages 18-59. There is a staff to client ratio of one to three on weekdays from 3 PM to 10 PM and 24-hour supervision on weekends. Clients participate in off-site day programs or individual employment on weekdays.
All Cedar Street House counselors are required to have a college degree in a related field or extensive related experience. They must be trained in CPR and first aid. Cedar is a licensed level 3 residential facility #410507207. Care is subsidized by regional centers and Supplemental Security Income.
HORIZONS APARTMENTS
Horizons is an independent living apartment complex for adults with developmental disabilities. Residents receive independent living skills training in order to learn how to:
- Manage money
- Perform household duties
- Use public transportation
- Find recreational opportunities
- Find employment or an appropriate day program
Horizons is a unique 24-unit apartment development built around a landscaped common area. It is located at 825 Old County Road in Belmont. It accommodates 26 adult men and women ages 18 and over. Their dependent children are welcome. PARCA provides the services of independent living skills counselors to help residents live with dignity, build personal and social relationships, and become more self-sufficient.
Horizons offers computer classes, arts & crafts sessions and healthy cooking classes. It has a self-directed tenant association and a strong family support group that hosts holiday dinners and summer parties.
PAGE MILL COURT APARTMENTS
Page Mill Court is an independent living apartment complex for adults with developmental disabilities. Residents receive independent living skills training in order to learn how to:
- Perform personal care tasks
- Perform household duties
- Manage money
- Use public transportation
- Find recreational opportunities
- Find employment or an appropriate day program
All Page Mill Court counselors are required to have a college degree in a related field or extensive related experience. They must be trained in CPR and first aid. Care is subsidized by regional centers and Supplemental Security Income.
Page Mill Court offers computer classes, a recreation program, an annual camping trip, and healthy cooking classes. It has a self-directed tenant association and a strong family support group that hosts holiday dinners and summer parties.
