Rotary PlayGarden
The Rotary PlayGarden, the Rotary Club of San Jose’s centennial gift to our community, opened in May 2015. The $6 million PlayGarden enables children with disabilities to play alongside their siblings and friends. This unique playground is maintained by Guadalupe River Park Conservancy staff and volunteers, in-kind donations, and fee-for-service contracts.
- Play environments – slides and ramps, swings, a sand play area, climbing opportunities, spinning and/or bouncing items, towers and tunnels
- Safety features – seating and benching for children and parents, visual sight line for parents, access for disabled adults, parents, seniors and children
- Accessibility features – walkways, paths and ramps, double wide wheelchair widths for walkways and ramps, interesting textures and surfaces
- Educational opportunities – an amphitheater for shows and storytelling, exposure to plant varieties, cones, pods and seeds, headphones to listen to pilots and air traffic controllers from nearby airport, nature education programs for school children and special programming for children with disabilities from the Guadalupe River Park Conservancy
