Rowell Family Empowerment offers support, education and advocacy for families of children with disabilities. Need help with an Individualized Education Program (IEP)? RFENC has a training that will assist! Interested in getting involved with children with disabilities? RFENC offers many opportunities! Looking to take on a leadership role? We provide information about such opportunities and more!

The fact that most staff at RFENC have children with disabilities is one characteristic that sets us apart from other agencies. The staff at RFENC have been “there”.

As parents, our staff understand that you are your child’s first teacher and an expert on information about your child! We want to provide you with the information and support you need to learn advocacy skills. The more information and skills you have, the better prepared you are to take an active and empowered role in your child/student’s life.

SLATE is a program of Rowell Family Empowerment that serves families and children living with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) ages 3 through 17. SLATE aims to improve social-emotional skills such as self-regulation, problem-solving, reasoning skills, and conflict resolution in children with ASD, in Shasta County.

How to Receive Respite Services

In order to receive services the child, youth, or adult you care for must be a client of Far Northern Regional Center. Rowell currently offers respite services within Shasta and Tehama counties. We are looking to expand into Siskiyou and Trinity counties if the family can recommend a respite care worker.
