The Childcare Resource & Referral (R&R) Program provides every family with the information they need to access high-quality early care and education that meets their specific preferences. The R&R also supports the full variety of early care and education providers in the county with access to a system that aids their programmatic and financial success.

Federal and state subsidized programs
Alternative Payment Program
The California Alternative Payment Program (AP) is available for children birth through 12 years old. The AP system allows a parent to choose the setting for their child from a wide array of pre-approved providers including large and small Family Child Care Homes.

General Child Care and Development
General child care and development programs are state and federally funded programs that use centers and family child care home networks operated or administered by either public or private agencies and local educational agencies. These agencies provide child development services for children from birth through 12 years of age and older children with exceptional needs. These programs provide an educational component that is developmentally, culturally, and linguistically appropriate for the children served. The programs also provide meals and snacks to children, parent education, referrals to health and social services for families, and staff development opportunities to employees.
California State Preschool Program
The California State Preschool Program provides both part-day and full-day services that provides a core class curriculum that is developmentally, culturally, and linguistically appropriate for the children served. The program also provides meals and snacks to children, parent education, referrals to health and social services for families, and staff development opportunities to employees. The program is administered through local educational agencies, colleges, community-action agencies, and private nonprofit agencies.
Head Start and Early Head Start
Head Start and Early Head Start are nationwide, federally-funded early childhood program for low-income children, ages birth to five. It is designed to provide comprehensive services in preparation for public school. Services include cognitive and language development, medical, dental, mental health, nutritional, and social services. The program places particular emphasis on parental involvement.
How do we know the facility is safe?
All open childcare centers and family childcare homes in Santa Clara County will follow social distancing, sanitation, and hygiene practices specified by the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department, the State of California and the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
