In addition to all the others services the Santa Clara public library provides (teen programs, reading time, etc.) Mission Library houses a special collection of ABLE kits.
These ABLE (Activities for Basic Learning and Enjoyment) kits contain books and materials for activities for students and adults with emotional, developmental and/or communicative disabilities. Using an up-to-date Santa Clara City Library card, caregivers can checkout one kit for three weeks.
They are available for borrowing in three subject areas:
- Language & Vocabulary
- Health & Hygiene
- Reading
The Homestead branch features a significant collection of Braille children’s books
