Hello!  I’m Shauna Farabaugh, a certified somatic sex educator and certified Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE®) provider based in San Francisco.  I’ve been a professional sexuality educator since 2007, with certifications from San Francisco Sex Information, the Institute for the Advanced Study of Human Sexuality, and the Somatic Sex Educators Association.  I believe that sexual expression is a right for every body, and I offer classes, private coaching and consulting to support the healthy sexuality of folks with disabilities (and to support the folks who support them!).

What I offer:

Sexuality Education

  • Sex education classes for self-advocates
  • Dating Bootcamps for self-advocates
  • Private coaching for folks with disabilities related to learning successful dating skills, making masturbation or partner sex accessible, understanding boundaries and consent, recovering from trauma, or basic sex education
  • Classes, consultations and private coaching for parents on “How to Talk to Your Kids About Sex,” addressing sexual behaviors of concern, teaching consent as an everyday practice, and understanding trauma
  • Trainings for service providers on “Sexual Health Competency,” “Everyday Consent,” and “Trauma-Informed Support”

Trauma Support

I also offer Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE®) in the format of private sessions or small group classes.  TRE® is a simple to learn modality that works directly with the nervous system to release the (often long-held) impacts or traumatic events or chronic stress.  Because we work directly with the body in TRE®, we can experience healing from trauma without using words.  And TRE is designed as a self-care tool, so once you learn how to use it, you can continue to experience ongoing, cumulative benefits over time without the cost or time investment of ongoing sessions with a provider.  TRE is ideal both for recovering from traumatic experience or for restoring resilience in the face of chronic stress and burnout (looking at you, parents out there!).

PEERS® Program

I am also a certified PEERS® provider.  I offer a modified version of PEERS® that is trauma-informed, consent-focused, and grounded in the principles of the neurodiversity movement.

Services are available both in person and remotely via zoom.  Please see my website for more details about each of these offerings.  And don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or to request a consultation.  I look forward to working with you!
