Melissa Peters M.S., CCC-SLP received her Bachelor of Science degree from George Washington University and her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Molloy College in Rockville Centre, NY.

Melissa’s extensive clinical experience varies from schools to private practice to hospitals where she has extensive experience treating adults and pediatric clients. In the school, clinic, and private practice setting, Melissa developed foundational skills evaluating and treating pediatric clients in speech, language, literacy, and feeding disorders. She specializes in children with complex medical and neurological diagnoses including Down Syndrome, Turner Syndrome, Nemaline Myopathy, childhood multiple sclerosis, Angelman syndrome, William’s Syndrome, and Fragile X Syndrome. She has experience with infant feeding disorders, in the NICU and outpatient setting.

In the medical setting, Melissa has extensive experience in the treatment and identification of swallowing and feeding disorders. Melissa has experience working with adults post-stroke, TBI,
tracheostomy, or other acquired neurological diagnoses. She actively completes effective classes, instrumental exams to assist in diagnosing dysphagia including Modified Barium Swallow Studies and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing.

Melissa’s therapeutic philosophy is individual, evidence-based practice to help children and adults reach their fullest communicative potential and nutritional needs. She is passionate about her field of
work and loves finding ways to make therapy enjoyable and functional for her clients of all ages!
