St. Joseph’s Family Center has an array of services that are available to assist those in need. Our services are typically limited to families/individuals who meet low-come requirements and living in Gilroy or San Martin, CA.  Please look at the list below to see what types of services we offer.

Employment Services

Our Employment Services provides support and training that will enhance individuals demand and value in the workforce by offering the following:

  • Job coaching and counseling
  • Resume development
  • Interviewing techniques and simulations
  • Information about free career development training available in English and Spanish
  • Financial education and budget examination
  • Discretionary financial assistance to help overcome employment barriers
  • Internet job search and on-line application assistance
  • Assistance setting up email accounts
  • A jobs board that lists local employment opportunities and openings in the greater Gilroy area
  • Referrals to other community resources

Key Terms and Conditions:

  • You must be a resident of Gilroy or San Martin, CA
  • You must meet the low-income level guidelines established by the City of Gilroy Housing and Community Development Department and/or the County of Santa Clara Social Services Agency

VITA Program

WVCS offers free income tax preparation services for low-income households. Get help with special tax credits including earned income tax credits and child tax credits. Free electronic filing (e-filing) is available for your convenience. Appointments (virtual/phone/in-person) will be available from February to April (check for availability closer to the program dates).

Free Workshops and Resource Fairs

WVCS hosts resource fairs and offers workshops on budgeting, credit, counseling services, legal consultation, mindfulness exercises, cooking, and many more. The workshops and resource fairs are open to clients and the public.
