Tessellations provides challenging experiential education that recognizes and nurtures the individual strengths of gifted learners, empowering them to confidently express who they are and pursue a meaningful life.

About Our School

Tessellations, a PreK-8 independent, progressive school tailored for gifted students, was created in 2020 by a group of like-minded parents and educators dedicated to serving the needs of the whole child.

Anne Beneventi, a nationally recognized gifted specialist and visionary educator, leads Tessellations with the heartfelt, enthusiastic support of the entire staff and parent community. All our talented, dedicated staff specialize in and have deep experience educating gifted children.

Our staff builds Tessellations’ curricula from the ground up. Our outstanding teachers do a tremendous job of keeping their classes engaged, strongly facilitated by our intentionally low student-teacher ratio (approximately 6:1).

Classes are held in-person on our new Main Campus in Cupertino, CA. Students also spend almost a whole day every week at our Nature Campus, which is only a 12min drive away.

Quick Stats

  • Student-teacher ratio: approximately 6:1
  • Grades  PreK-8
  • Students: approximately 120
  • Project-based learning with an emphasis on social justice and outdoor education
  • Social-emotional learning curriculum
  • Differentiated education, including math groupings by ability (rather than grade)
  • Based in Cupertino, CA at our Main Campus and Nature Campus

Base Camp: Tessellations’ After-School Program

Tessellations’ after-school program is called Base Camp! The idea for this name is based on our Journeys. When you’re resting up for a big expedition, you spend some time at Base Camp getting ready and sharpening your skills or just hanging out with friends.

When students come to Base Camp, they can either join Free Play, attend specific clubs, or both. They can come to Base Camp daily, for a few days per week, or sign up for drop-in days of Free Play as needed. Base Camp fees are not included in the cost of tuition and are dependent upon the activity you sign up for (Free Play or a club) and the frequency with which you sign up.

In Free Play, students can engage in any number of activities, both indoor and outdoor. Maybe they’re just hanging out with their friends. Maybe they’re on the playground. Maybe they’re playing a board game or a card game. Maybe they’re reading or finishing classwork. Free Play is always supervised by Tessellations staff.

A wide variety of after-school clubs are offered to our students each semester. Some clubs are offered by Tessellations staff while others are offered by vetted, high-quality vendors. Club offerings are determined by student interest and family surveys.
