The Marin School’s mission is to provide a collaborative learning community that inspires confidence, creativity, integrity, and academic excellence through a deep belief in each student’s potential.

A COMMITMENT TO HONORING DIVERSE LEARNERS AND LEARNING STYLES

We are a small school by DESIGN.

Our small class size (9 on average) and low-student-to teacher ratio (8-to-1 average), naturally encourage more personalized teaching, experiential learning, innovative lessons and non-traditional, yet effective, learning opportunities.

The Learning Center offers students a quiet environment where students can study – independently or in small peer groups, receive direct instruction in study skills that they will need to be successful in school, use assistive technologies, do homework, and organize their time and schedules.  Parents can also work with our Learning Specialist to help them communicate with teachers regarding each student’s unique educational profiles, recommend outside tutoring or educational assessment services, and request College Board/ACT accommodations for students diagnosed with LDs and attention disorders. In all, we are committed to creating a community of learners that embraces all learning styles and differences.

Program for Academic Success

TMS offers a unique and inclusive program for students with learning differences.

The Marin School celebrates and encourages diverse thinking and learning. Our students are engaged and inspired, learning in an environment that supports collaboration – not competition. TMS offers a unique and inclusive program for students with learning differences.

Our Program for Academic Success is for students who need specialized support in one or more areas of study to be successful in a college preparatory curriculum.

The students in this program have exceptional strengths as well as challenges – they are extremely motivated, eager to learn, and participate fully in our school community. Receiving support from this program is just one aspect of a student’s high school experience at TMS.

College Counseling at The Marin School

The College Counseling model at The Marin School is a four year comprehensive program that is guided by “best fit” for each student. This applies to curriculum and course selection, standardized testing plans, and post-graduate placement. Every student and family will work closely with the college counselor through each step of the process and receive personal guidance.
