The Tri-Valley Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) is a regional office that assures the provision of special education and related services to students with disabilities ages 0-22 residing in east Alameda County. Our work is guided by our Local Plan.

Who Makes Up the Tri-Valley SELPA?
Our SELPA is comprised of Sunol Glen, Pleasanton, Dublin, and Livermore Valley Joint unified school districts, Mountain House Elementary School District, and Alameda County Schools, the programmatic arm of the Alameda County Office of Education. Districts in our SELPA serve approximately 42,400 students, of whom 4,500 are students with disabilities requiring special education. The services provided at each district are identified in the annual Service Plan.

Services
Currently the Tri-Valley SELPA offers direct services to students who are children with developmental delays under the age of 3, and to students who require mental health counseling services in order to make progress on their IEP goals.

Infant and Toddler Services:
The Tri-Valley SELPA serves infants ages 0-2 years who have been determined by the SELPA, County Office of Education or Regional Center to require early intervention services because of developmental delays. Infant services emphasize working with the infant, parent, and other family members in the natural environment.

Tri-Valley SELPA Clinical Services Department:
The Tri-Valley SELPA is comprised of Dublin Unified School District, Livermore Joint Unified School District, Pleasanton Unified School District, Mountain House School District and Sunol School District and Alameda County Office of Education. The Tri-Valley SELPA Clinical Services (TVCS) department works with Special Education Directors and staff in the Tri-Valley to support the mental health needs of students.

The CAC is a group of parents, district staff and community members tasked with informing the SELPA regarding issues important to parents, participating in the development of the Local Plan, facilitating parent involvement with special education in their districts, and assisting with parent training.  District special education directors and the SELPA director are non-voting members of the committee.

The CAC holds a minimum of four business meetings and sponsors at least two parent training events per year. In addition, the CAC hosts the Make a Difference Awards every May, during which teachers, related service providers, paraprofessionals and administrators are honored for their work with students with disabilities.

Further information about the CAC can be found in the Tri-Valley SELPA Local Plan.  CAC meetings are open to the public and parents are encouraged to attend.  CAC meeting dates are in the SELPA’s calendar of events and the agenda is posted in each district at least 72 hours before each meeting.  Parents and community members interested in becoming members of the CAC should contact the special education director of their district.
