Tutoring

Our mission is to empower students with the tools and confidence to succeed academically, to encourage self-advocacy, and to inspire a love of learning.

To achieve this goal, our trusted management team has hand-picked a corps of exceptional instructors who, in addition to being experts in their fields, care deeply about the “whole student” experience – the overall well-being of their students along with their academic achievements.

Our management team is dedicated, creative and solutions-oriented. Combining our expertise with a vast network of educational resources, we strive to fill every educational need. We believe the instructor-student or instructor-school match is paramount, and take pride in our ability to successfully facilitate these matches through a personalized and deliberate process.

We offer: academic tutoring, test prep, homeschooling, school staffing

Depending on the type and location of the request, Tutor Corps can offer specialized tutors who have experience with the following learning differences:

  • ADD/ADHD
  • Executive Functioning
  • Dyslexia
  • Auditory Processing Disorder
  • Dysgraphia
  • Dyscalculia
  • Language Processing Disorder
  • Autism spectrum

Please note that Tutor Corps specializes in helping school districts and parents of children with IEPs (Individual Education Plans) provide in-home academic support when working in a classroom setting is no longer an option.

Executive Function Coaching

Our specialized executive function coaches teach academic and practical skills that foster success in the classroom and beyond. From time management to organization, students gain skills they’ll carry for life.

Meyers Learning Center is pleased to announce that we are joining forces with Tutor Corps in July, 2020. Tutor Corps will provide MLC students and tutors with extensive resources and offer families top notch academic support.

Tutor Corps is committed to ensuring that MLC Tutoring continues to provide the same level of quality services to our students. Moving forward, all former MLC parents and tutors should contact Tutor Corps for learning support.

For the most ease, we recommend families consider online tutoring. We also offer in person tutoring services in the Bay Area and Los Angeles, and tutors in those areas may come to your home or can work on your child’s school campus with written permission from the school. We do not have any tutoring centers.

In honor of Robbie Engelmann, a beloved mother, gifted therapist, teacher, and advocate of the underserved, the Tutor Corps Foundation awards scholarships to provide a year of complimentary tutoring for lower income young women.

Robbie cared deeply about creating opportunities for young women. The Robbie Engelmann Memorial Scholarship funds one-on-one tutoring for five students for the academic year. The scholarship recipients will meet once a week with a tutor to receive consistent academic support along with mentoring to build confidence and self-esteem.

Applicants must be female students, live in the Bay Area or Los Angeles, be in 5th through 12th grade, demonstrate a financial need for tutoring and be recommended by a teacher and parent. Applications are due every June 1st.
