Camping Unlimited for the Developmentally Disabled was established in 1957 and incorporated in 1961 as a non-profit public benefit corporation, registered with the state and with a 501(c)(3) federal tax exemption.  See our website for detail on our history, philosophy, program and facilities.

Camp Krem offers “a place for exceptional people to be themselves – since 1957. In the last 67 years, we have hosted an estimated 200,000 days and nights of independence-building recreation, fun and friendship to thousands of children and adults with special needs – and much needed respite for their parents, families and caregivers.  We have also provided a terrific experience – often transformational — to young people who come to help us as counselors. We are registered with the American Camp Association, have a vendor contract with the state of California’s regional centers and a Platinum rating from GuideStar for transparency.

After more than 50 years in the Santa Cruz Mountains, we lost Camp Krem to the terrible CZU Lighting Complex wildfires of August 2020.  Naturally, we intend to rebuild. We are in the final stages of architectural and engineering design, and hope to reopen in stages – beginning in Summer 2026.

In the meantime, we have purchased a lovely property near Yosemite and are preparing our third summer there.

We offer:

  • Summer camp, our 67 year old residential camp program, now in the Sierras near Yosemite: Six separate sessions of 10 days each. (One is divided into two five-day sessions, if your child would like a shorter camp.)
  • Summer Travel Camp for more independent campers.   Each 10-day session goes to a different, fun place.   First and last day are at Camp Krem Yosemite, in Ahwahnee.
  • Year around programgoing to many fun places regularly.
  • Day trips are also scheduled.

Most fees (including transportation from Pleasanton for our summer programs) are paid by your Regional Center, as either Social and Recreational (for your child) or Out of Home Respite (for you).  We can help you or your Case Manager with details.
