Aspiranet offers a unique blend of services including foster family support, adoption through foster care, services for foster youth transitioning to adulthood, mental health services, residential care, intensive home-based care, and community-based family resources.

Aspiranet is a leading non-profit offering services, often at little to no cost, to children and families with developmental disabilities. You can find information and help with issues like aggression, bolting, & communication. We also have experience helping families build skills to resolve difficult behaviors. If you have a child with autism or behavioral challenge, we invite you contact us to determine which program would be best for you.

IN-HOME BEHAVIORAL SERVICES

Aspiranet strongly believes in families staying together. When we saw children being placed out of home, we created our In-Home Behavioral service. We believed we could keep families together by teaching children replacement behaviors, patience and communication and helping parents learn coping and parenting skills.

Our approach worked. Our team of behavioral experts help support families to create a stable environment for people ages 2 to 35 with autism and developmental disabilities. To date, we have helped hundreds of families improve their relationships with our in-home behavioral program.

SOCIAL SKILLS GROUPS

Aspiranet offers FRIENDS, a social skills group program for participants ages 5-21. FRIENDS provides services to participants of all skill levels. We use evidence based curriculum and practices which may include the Social Skills Improvement System (SSIS) or UCLA’s PEERS program. The goal of the FRIENDS program is to help children to learn how to make and meet friends by shaping each client’s learning of social skills and generalizing these skills into the community. An experienced team will meet with the group(s) for a 1 ½ hour session each week to provide support and training. Groups are held in the San Jose Aspiranet office.

PARENT-CHILD INTERACTION THERAPY (PCIT)

Aspiranet is a UC Davis certified Parent-Child Interaction Therapy site (PCIT), an innovative and specialized therapy program designed to assist parents with children, ages 2-8, who have autism, behavioral challenges or developmental delays. PCIT provides parents with tested behavioral management and relationship enhancing tools. The goal of PCIT is to empower parents, improve the quality of the parent-child relationship and help ensure long-term family success.

In PCIT parents receive “bug in the ear’ coaching, which teaches parents how to interact positively with their child with the use of praise, positive reinforcement, and consistent follow-through with their directives. In the PCIT program, parents also learn to become more in tune with their child needs and to recognize signals of their child’s distress so that they can respond appropriately. Parents who have participated in PCIT report decreased feelings of isolation, frustration, and failure with increased feelings of empowerment and confidence in their parenting skills.

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH

Aspiranet provides an array of outpatient therapy and counseling support to help children, parents and families cope with emotional challenges.

With the help of a highly qualified staff of compassionate providers in our counseling program, Aspiranet’s clients are led through a process of goal-setting and discovery to help them to make positive changes and achieve greater levels of self-satisfaction.
