Welcome to a high school that doesn’t ask students to fit in—it fits to students.
School for Independent Learners (SIL) is a new kind of high school, an open invitation to learn your way. We create custom programs for students in grades 8 to 12 who seek intellectual freedom, flexible scheduling, and a chance to learn without the threat of failure.

At SIL you can accelerate your education and graduate early, take classes not offered elsewhere, accommodate a busy schedule, or retake a class to improve your grade. Master the material and learn at your own pace, one-to-one and in small groups. Or get help with homework, prepare for the SAT, and find mentorship and college guidance.

From our classes to our culture, we offer a flexible, nurturing environment that reflects who our students are and how they learn. Some students take just one or two classes at SIL and transfer credit earned, while others join full-time, customize their entire education, and graduate with a high school diploma from SIL.

SCHOOL FOR INDEPENDENT LEARNERS IS A NURTURING, PRIVATE HIGH SCHOOL FOR GRADES 8-12.
WASC-Accredited, with UC-Approved coursework in one-to-one and small group classes, our curriculum is college preparatory with a full host of Honors and Advanced Placement courses designed to situate students for success through high school, into college, and beyond.  Our student body is comprised of Full Time Students, Dual Enrollment/Part Time Students for credit-transfer to another school of record, Home School Students, and Tutoring & Test Prep Students in all a-g subjects.
