SOS stands for Saving Our Sanity and is a weekly support group for parents and caregivers of children with special needs.
As caregivers, we have a lot of guilt about the mistakes we make, we struggle with the choices we face and put burdens on ourselves that feel like the weight of the world. As a result, we pile on emotional and physical issues on ourselves. And without even knowing it, we transfer the burden to our other family members, including our children. The good news is that help is on the way. Over the eight weeks of this series, we will explore the power of mindfulness to gain self-compassion through skills that will help you and that can be transferred to your loved ones. Clearly, the most benefit will come from joining weekly but each week, there will be new skills that you can acquire in a supportive setting so come as often as you can.

This is the topic of the meeting: Using mindful skills to become more self-compassionate.

The group is facilitated by Laura Beth DeHority, LMFT, parent to special needs young adults, and former corporate communicator.
