For Santa Clara County residents ONLY

Dialectical Behavior Therapy was originally developed to work with Borderline Personality Disorder. The great thing is that it is such a flexible therapy that with limited modifications, it was found that the skills acquired were really helpful for people with ADHD, Autism, Addictive Disorders, Anxiety, Depression, Caregiver Fatigue and countless other mental health challenges. While this series is specifically designed for parental caregivers, we will look at some practical skills for the entire family.

Week Three: Mindfulness: This week is dedicated to skills that help us to manage depression (worrying about past regret) and anxiety (catastrophizing about the future that we don’t know and can’t control) by becoming aware and maintaining a present focus (the one point in time that we can control, and we will miss if we are focusing on past resentments/regrets or future worries) These are skills that are help us to prevent the onset of emotional distress in the face of a complex world.

This workshop is facilitated by Laura Beth DeHority, LMFT, a licensed marriage and family therapist.
Made possible by funding from El Camino Health and the County Of Santa Clara.
